TinyTears is a trailer that came unexpectedly in April 2010 to the MiniTears Family. At the request of a customer, we designed and built TinyTears as a traveling kiosk of sorts. Equipped with a flat screen monitor and state-of-the-art stereo system, the original TinyTears will be towed behind a very rare, 1965 Morris-MINI Cooper pickup and be used to promote the customer’s business at car shows and MINI Cooper gatherings.
During the construction of TinyTears we soon realized that what we were building was a second generation trailer that had great potential to not only to the Classic MINI community (a car so small it makes the New MINI look like an SUV), but to all ultra light vehicles, including Hybrid cars, and even motorcycles.
Expected to weigh in at about 300#, the TinyTears Teardrop is basically a shell with a very durable, water-tight hatch design and a single suicide side door. It measures 3’ wide by 6’ long (nose to its cute little duck tail) by 34” high (interior floor to ceiling). Yes, a person up to six feet tall could sleep very comfortably in it (but you’d need to be pretty friendly to fit two)!
The frame and axle are basically the same as the MiniTears model, using .095” square tube steel and 1500# torsion suspension axle. It can be fitted with wheels to match your car, including the original 10” MINI wheels like the ones shown above.
The standard siding is the same signature mirror polished aluminum as shown on the prototype in this website but you can also choose from options of brushed aluminum, custom painted aluminum to match your car, or as shown above, vinyl wrapped.
The standard base model, starting at $6995.00, will be void of any interior cabinetry but will still have a beautiful gloss varnish finish. The options are endless as you will see on the “TinyTears Options” page, and if you can dream it up we can probably make it happen.
Weather it’s for more luggage room on long road trips, a cozy sleeping pod when camping, a place to carry golf clubs or equipment for a traveling business, or a mobile audio/video promotional kiosk, TinyTears will be right behind you….but it's so light and tows so sweet you may forget it’s back there!
